BIPSO GmbH was established by transferring operations from Nycomed GmbH (now Takeda GmbH) to Bracco Imaging S.p.A. That having been said, Bracco contrast media had already been produced for decades at the Singen site. Prior to the transfer of operations, Nycomed GmbH (Byk Gulden, then Altana Pharma, then Nycomed) had already been manufacturing products for Bracco for over 25 years.

In 2008 Bracco took over the marketing and the distribution of its own products in Germany with the establishment of the Konstanz-based Bracco Imaging Deutschland. With the launch of BIPSO GmbH in 2011, production was also brought in-house.

By the way, our name is almost as long as our history, which is why we prefer to abbreviate it - from the full version “Bracco Imaging Pharmaceutical Sterile Operations” to the much shorter BIPSO.

The early '80s
Start of production of the X-ray contrast medium Solutrast^® in Singen.

1993
Foundation of joint venture company Bracco Byk Gulden in Konstanz.

2000
Start of production by Byk Gulden in Singen of the X-ray contrast medium Isovue^® for the American market and the magnetic resonance contrast medium ProHance^®.

2002
Byk Gulden renamed Altana Pharma. Bracco Byk Gulden thus becomes Bracco Altana Pharma.

2003
Start of production in Singen of the magnetic resonance contrast medium contrast medium MultiHance^® for the American market.

2007
Acquisition of Altana Pharma by Nycomed.

2008
Bracco decides to take over sales in Germany itself. As a result of a transfer of operations, Bracco Altana Pharma was transformed into Bracco Imaging Deutschland, a subsidiary of Bracco Imaging S.p.A.

2011
Foundation of BIPSO GmbH by means of a transfer of operations from Nycomed GmbH (as of the end of 2012 Takeda GmbH) to Bracco Imaging S.p.a. The site in the Singen industrial park is maintained, with the result that the production facilities and buildings of BIPSO GmbH and Takeda GmbH are now on the same plot. Prior to the transfer of operations, Takeda GmbH (Byk Gulden, then Altana Pharma, then Nycomed) has already been manufacturing products for Bracco for over 25 years.

2014
BIPSO GmbH invests around € 16 million in the restructuring of production and packing halls and in new production facilities.

2015
Completion and finalisation of the plans to extend the centre of excellence at the site with the addition of a laboratory building, an office building and a logistics building.

2017
In January the new laboratory building was ready for occupancy. In May we were successfully inspected by the Regional Council, with the aim to receive the additional authorization to perform Quality Control activities for our products by ourselves.
